Why Boudoir Photography
I’m So Glad You Asked ...
Beauty is Way More Than Skin Deep
Boudoir photography is an intimate experience that has significant and longstanding benefits for every woman, regardless of age and personal history. Setting an intention to spend time with you and for you, or for your partner, is exciting, empowering, and even enlightening.
A Little Boudoir History
Boudoir photography became popular in the ’20s following the conclusion of the women’s suffrage movement. Voting emboldened the expression of other deeply-meaningful rights, including reverence for the female figure. Those who understood it considered boudoir photography to be an artform. Those who didn’t deemed it glorified pornography.
Male-gaze dominated photography is most-often created to be explicit – a far cry from female-gaze styled boudoir photography which is crafted in implication. The difference between the two is profound, and boudoir photographs are as meaningful to the subject as they are to their partner.
Photography Gone Female
Before I established Boudoir By Cipriani, I photographed wedding proposals and, later, events. The work was fun and steady, but it didn’t feed my soul. Finally, I harnessed my creative ability with my personal mission and uncovered the power and impact of boudoir photography.
My purpose is to give you, my clients, permission to see yourself through a different lens – to rediscover, reclaim and celebrate your body, no matter your age or stage of life. I photograph only from the female-gaze perspective, meaning I shoot on your level as your equal. You will never feel a dynamic of dominance or submission, either during your boudoir photo shoot or when looking at your photos.
We are more than our bodies, but we should not be shamed for appreciating them or our sexuality.
